Indian Aviation History Explained

Aviation History in India :


  • Indian Aviation History was started in the year 1929.

  • " Mr. Neville Vincent " who is an Aviation evangelist ( He convince the people to join in aviation ) He is also a former RAF ( Rapid Action Force ) Pilot. He came to India in his process of inventing new air routes.

  • In India, he met "Mr. JRD Tata" chairmen of "Tata groups". They together put forward a proposal to the Government of India to introduce Aviation in India.

  • In 1930, JRD Tata flew solo from England to India, Which gave a lot of promotion to the Civil Aviation sector in India.

  • 15th Oct, 1932. a VT-ADN (single-engine Puss Moth) took off from "Karachi" on its flight to "Mumbai" via "Ahmedabad". This service is called "Tata Airlines". It was operated by Mr. JRD Tata

  • At Mumbai, Mr. Neville Vincent took over from Tata and flew the VT-ADN to "Chennai" via "Bellary".

  • As JRD Tata was the reason behind the start of Indian Aviation he is known as "Father of Indian Civil Aviation".

  • 8th Mar, 1948. Air India International was incorporated.

  • 15th Jun, 1953. Air India International ltd and Indian airline corporation came into formal existence.

  • 1st Aug, 1953. Air corporation Act was possessed by Parliament, All Airlines in India were Nationalised.
